PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

We are planning an exciting and diverse program for the nursing symposium.

The day will be in person for those able to attend in Toronto and also as a online for those around the world unable to make the journey.

The day will include the following invited speakers:
Nancy Thornton – a nurse and a death doula to talk on the concept of a death doula, trainings available and how this can fit in with and also possibly conflict with the role of the neurosurgical nurse
Patrick Belec – a nurse by trade and survived a craniopharyngioma as 18-old as he began his nurse training. He will bring inciteful offerings from the patient perspective and the nursing one!
Dr Karin Muraszko – a chief of neurosurgery in the US. She will bring to us a unique view of living with spina bifida as she has managed to be a great neurosurgeon with spina bifida.

We also have a global piece on TBI around the world. This will involve 5 nurses from around the world discussing TBI in their area – Etiology, pathways, outcomes. This should be a fascinating insight to our differing nursing arenas.

Nursing abstracts from around the world highlighting the work nurses are undertaking to make our patients (and nursing) lives better.

All submitted abstracts will be considered to be presented as oral presentation.
